Our Story | Marco Guizar & Katelyn O'Neil | Fascia.com
Fascia connective tissue, the foundation of Fascia.com

Two people.
One obsession.

Marco & Katelyn spent years searching for answers in all the right places. The missing piece turned out to be something nobody had mapped yet.

The Beginning · 2011

We thought fitness
was the answer.

In 2011, Marco and Katelyn owned a gym in Sacramento. They believed in movement, nutrition, and hard work. And over the years, their own bodies started breaking down. Lower backs, feet, shoulders, necks. The kind of pain that doesn't make sense for people who do everything right.

Between the two of them, they saw every practitioner they could find. Each one helped in some way. Real moments of relief. But the tension always came back. Something deeper was missing, and nobody had a name for it yet.

Business stress made it worse. Marco's PTSD from his time as a Marine Corps infantryman began to flare. Katelyn developed kidney stones. Their bodies were speaking. Nobody had the translation.

The Turn · 2015

The one thing
nobody had
mentioned.

Marco found an osteopath. $350 an hour. Worth every penny. That first session launched a rabbit hole neither of them had seen coming: the connective tissue system that wraps every muscle, organ, and cell in the body. The tissue nobody had ever mentioned.

"PTSD lives in the body. It settles into the fascia. That was the moment everything clicked."

They stopped looking outward. They started reading: Ida Rolf, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, Thomas Myers, Dr. Robert Sapolsky. The research had existed for decades. Nobody had pointed them to it. That gap became the mission.

The search

They saw every practitioner they could find, trying everything available to them. Each one helped in some way. Each one was part of the path. What was missing wasn't the people. It was the connective tissue layer nobody had mapped yet.

Tested on their own bodies

Every release, every sequence, every tool on this site came from years of Marco and Katelyn working on themselves. Nothing gets published until it works, on real tissue, repeatedly, over time.

The body holds
what the mind
can't process.

When stress, trauma, and years of fight or flight have nowhere to go, they settle. Into your tissue. Into your fascia. The connective system that wraps every muscle, every organ, every structure in your body.

Your posture. Your digestion. Your breathing. Your pain. Fascia is in the driver's seat of all of it. And when it's holding tension from injury, from stress, from a big life event, the effects are global. Nothing operates in isolation. Everything is connected through the web.

We lived this. Between the two of us, we carried it in different ways. But the root was the same. What was missing wasn't the effort, or the people who helped along the way. It was this layer. The one nobody had mentioned yet.

That's why we talk about the global effect. Because your fascia isn't just a pain problem. It's a whole-body conversation.

The Mission · Now

You can learn
your own
body.

Practitioners are part of the picture. They always will be. But what happens between visits, at home, in your own body, on your own time, that's where lasting change lives.

"Your fascia is not the problem. Not knowing about it is."

Fascia work requires time, consistency, and daily self-direction. Our job is to make sure you know how to give those things to yourself. Learn what fascia is →

Marco

Co-Founder · Builder · Self-Bodywork Pioneer

Marco is a father, veteran, and entrepreneur who built something the world didn't have yet, because he needed it himself. He came home from service carrying PTSD and trauma that had nowhere to go but inside his body. He channeled it into personal training, where he saw the same pattern in everyone around him. People doing everything right and still stuck in pain. He knew there was more to the puzzle.

It started with a foam roller. But what he found beneath the surface went far beyond recovery. That curiosity led him to an osteopath, and for the first time something made sense. Fascia. He dove in: Ida Rolf, Andrew Taylor Still, Robert Sapolsky. He tested everything on himself and built from there.

Sixteen years later, Marco has pioneered Self-Bodywork, a new standard of health built on one belief: you can understand your own body. We are living in an epidemic of pain. Marco is here to flip the narrative. Your body can change. Your story doesn't have to end where it started.

Katelyn

Co-Founder · Educator · Designer

Katelyn is a mother, a partner, and a designer who spent years living in a body that never felt like home. Stress and anxiety that had nowhere to go. Tightness that moved. A life that felt like one long knot.

For Katelyn, fascia is also how life can feel. It gets tight. It gets restricted. But it can be worked on, unraveled, and released. That's not just a metaphor. That's the practice. When fascia finally clicked, so did everything else. Her background in health, fascia work, and design became the foundation for fascia.com. Marco asks the big questions. Katelyn makes sure the world can see them.

Everything that goes out into the world goes through one filter: can this actually help someone? Is this valuable? For Katelyn, the answer has always been yes, and it has always been fascia.

The Fascia Origin Timeline

How we
got here.

This didn't start as a company. It started as a personal crisis and a question that wouldn't go away. Here's the honest version of how we got from there to here.

2011Year zero
The Gym

Marco and Katelyn own a gym. Marco trains clients daily. Katelyn studies nutrition.

They believe in fitness. They believe movement is the answer. And it is. Until it isn't. They begin noticing something: strength alone isn't solving people's pain.
2012–2014The search
The Search

They see every practitioner they can find. Relief comes in waves. The root never quite resolves.

Every practitioner they could find. Every modality available to them. Each one part of the picture. Their bodies are asking for something nobody has the full answer to yet.
2015The turn
The First Session

Marco finds an osteopath. $350 an hour. The first session changes everything.

For the first time, the body makes sense. The rabbit hole opens. Ida Rolf. Andrew Taylor Still. Thomas Myers. Robert Sapolsky. The research had existed for decades. Nobody had pointed them to it. That gap becomes the mission.
2015–2019The work
Building It

Years of testing begin. Every protocol tested on their own bodies first.

Nothing is taught until it works. Repeatedly. The education that didn't exist anywhere gets built from the ground up.
2019The studio
The Studio

The gym evolves into a wellness studio. Self-Bodywork takes center stage. Ice baths. Sauna. The method takes its real shape.

Clients are doing bodywork daily. The tools, the sequences, the protocols. All of it tested on real people, in a real room, over real time.
2022–2025The shift
No Walls

The work was always meant to reach more people than could walk through one door.

Filming. Teaching. Rebuilding every protocol so anyone can learn it at home. The bodywork that changed everything in that room needed to exist beyond it.
2025Live
Fascia.com Launches

The full platform. Education. Tools. Protocols.

Built for everyday people. Not athletes, not clinicians. Everyone. The work finally reaches the people it was always built for.
